The Geothermal Generator is the T4 power generator and requires the Frozen Factory Expansion. The machine is built as a 5wx3hx5d multiblock for 75 blocks total, it can be placed anywhere, but it's advised to build it in the Cold Caverns and then fed Heat Conducting Pipes in order to reach the Magma Caverns. The amount of energy it creates is increased the deeper the pipes go until it reaches the optimal point at which point it will no longer lay pipes.
The PPS is based on the difference of temperature between location of Geothermal Generator and the deepest pipe. At 1150°C it reaches max PPS.
The power produced by this machine can be greatly increased by giving it Compressed Freezon Canisters. These canisters give it a temporary boost for 30 seconds. Note that the amount of time the canister lasts does scale with the amount of power being drawn from the machine, less power being used will cause the boost to last longer.
The amount of power this machine produces is dependent on difficulty. The following power amounts assume that the geothermal has the maximum number of pipes and is placed in Cold Caverns:
Resources | Power Settings | Boosted | Unboosted | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Any | Scarce | => | 4101 | 205 |
Any | Plentiful | => | 8202 | 410 |
Rapid | Scarce | => | 8202 | 410 |
Rapid | Plentiful | => | 16404 | 820 |
Rush | Rush | => | 32808 | 32808 |
Notes[]
- Placing the Geothermal anywhere other than the cold layer produces about 35% of the cold cavern power.
- Power will not seem to increase past 1040 down, but there is a 10% power bump at 1120 depth.
- Bug in Rush mode: power output is fixed and independed of pipes length and freezon boost. But it will still consume freezon and pipes if you feed it.
- Tip: multiple generators on top will share the same pipes. This works not 100% on reloading the game.
