The research assembler requires an input Hopper, an output Hopper, and 125 pps over 15 seconds (5 seconds in rapid).

Since the assember requires so much power, it is difficult to fully power early in the game. Consider automating the production of pods so that you have them ready when you need them. Additionally, the assembler can be powered by many pyrothermic generators by placing clusters of generators above, below, and adjacent to the assembler.
