The Research Station is a machine for decoding scanned items using the Ore Scanner or unknown items discovered while exploring the world around you. When an item is unknown, it will appear with a question mark icon in your inventory. Each unknown item is worth a specific number of research points and requires energy to process. The amount of power required varies for each item. Accumulated research points can be used to unlock additional blueprint recipes.
To access the Research Station user interface press "E".
Higher tier projects require a multi-block structure called a Laboratory to complete research and unlock more complicated recipes.
